Let's spend together 4 warm days and hot nights of tango. With Maestros from Argentina , live concerts, all night milongas and many special events, we expect the festival this year to be a blast. Odessa will wake up from sleep and open its arms toward the warm sunshine. Magic brush of summer will paint our city in colors, appropriate only to this time of year. In divine palette are turquoise sea and sky, emerald and pearl of chestnut and acacia trees, ocher and gold of sandy beaches, and black velvet of summer nights, silvered by the moonlight. Southern Palmira, our Precious Pearl will shine mysteriously again, tempting and promising love.

And by the end of June, already coddled and passionate, impregnated with spicy aroma of acacia losing blossom, washed with fresh rains, it will be ready to open its main talent to everyone who deserves it - the art of art creating.

In all its manifestations - architecture, poetry, inimitable humor, music, painting and dance. And it will give itself to the most magic and passionate dance - Argentine tango.

Whirl in the embrace of the tango here in Odessa, and you will be carried back through time and space, you will catch an invisible thread that connects the souls of all who kept this miracle for us. Fly on the wings of the tango above and beyond - in another world, another dimension where everything obeys the laws of art, music and feeling.

In the restaurant hall of the hotel "Bristol" you may suddenly get fascinated with bewitching look of dark and beautiful eyes of "queen of the screen" Vera Holodnaya, who is silently glclassing over the parquet floor in a couple with Alexander Vertinsky, or you may hear the velvet voice of Peter Leshchenko, or the sweet melodies of Oscar Strock ... And the motif of "El Choclo" by Villoldo will remind you its Odessian reincarnation - "On Deribasovskaya a beerhouse is opened..."

Sergio Natario and Alejandra Arrue

Sergio Natario and Alejandra Arrue are qualified professional tango teachers and dancers. They have been known for their Milonguero style for over a decade now. They are a husband and wife team, and in their dancing you can clearly see the harmony between the two.
Started to dance in the year 1987, studied tango with teachers: Pepe Avellaneda, Antonio Todaro, Miguel Balmaceda, Gloria and Eduardo among others.
Their 25 years tango career is distinguishing and extensive. Among the most important work they specify: 10 years of participating in the most prestigious festivals in Europe, USA and Africa.
They worked as International judges at Buenos Aires Tango Festival for 6 years and on tango championship in New York, they performed in the most important milongas (La Ventana, Michel'angelo, Boca Tango, etc) and in famous shows, sharing the stage with artists and most prestigious orchestras of tango (El Sexteto Mayor, Los Reyes del Tango, Color Tango). For 6 Years they performed at C.I.T.A. (CosmoTango Buenos Aires).
From the year 2003 Alejandra and Sergio decided to devote themselves exclusively to teaching tango. Currently they live in Napoli (Italy), where they have their school, known as the Salone Margherita, located in the historic old Umberto gallery primo.

Like many great teachers, they have gone around the world passing on their experience to tango lovers. Their methodology is based on corporal and auditory work.
They have a program of different exercises which they have prepared through their own experiences over the last decade. Their principle is that of elegance and rhythm, without impeding the freedom of each pupil to develop his/her own way of feeling tango.

Laura Rodriguez took her first steps in Tango with teachers Alba Ferreti and Mauricio Seifert in 1992, being part of the Tango Instruction Programme for primary schools, led by the teaching team of Rodolfo and Gloria Dinzel. Following this, she attended the Dinzel Studio and complemented her foundation as a dancer taking classes of contemporary dance and ballet, as well as Flamenco. Simultaneously, she studied Tango alongside prominent dancers such as Gustavo Naviera-Giselle Anne and Julio Balmaceda-Corina de la Rosa. As a teacher, she has developed herself in various institutions like primary schools in Buenos Aires and in the University of Tango, being part of the teaching staff of the Dinzels. She has performed in many different theatres and cultural venues as a member of the Independent Ballet Tanguardia in Buenos Aires and also touring around Cuba in December 2000. Between May and July 2002, Laura performed at the Teatro Nacional Cervantes in Buenos Aires, in the show “Vamos al Tango”, produced by Konex Foundation. The same show was taken to the city of Mar Del Plata between January and February 2003. In June 2006, she started a tour around France with the show “Melopeya” that took her to many festivals such as the Theatre and Dance Festival of Avignon, performing at the Rouge George Theatre. 

Laura  participated in various shows in Buenos Aires, such as the Tango Show of “La Recova de 1810” - which she also directed – as well as a number of performances at the Claridge Hotel of Buenos Aires with the Tito Ferrari Trio. 

In 2008 she started a tour around Italy that has seen her participating in various events and festivals in Rome, Naples, Senigallia, Ferrara, Macerata, Rimini and Pescara. These include the First International Women’s Tango Festival in Naples (www.mujeresdeltango.com), the “V Festival Internazionale di Tango al Mare” in Senigallia, the First International Tango Encounter in Pescara - “Tango in Festival”- with artistic direction by Sergio Natario and Alejandra Arrue, and the Jazz Festival of Giulianuova. She has performed with the “Orquesta Típica” of Alfredo Marcucci in the Ventidio Basso Theatre (Ascoli Piceno) and presented  the show “Tang8” in Parque Villa Sabucchi (Pescara). Further, she performed with the Naturalis Labor Company in the show “Alma de Tango” at Castello Estense de Ferrara and in Villa Pojana (Pojana Maggiore)

During 2009, Laura has been performing with the Orquesta Ensemble Hyperion in Santa Fiora and has been a part of the show “A Night of Tango” of the MSC Cruises, artistic direction by de Sergio Natario and Alejandra Arrue.

KVINTANGO ENSEMBLE

Rio Rita Orchestra

KVINTANGO ENSEMBLE – this is five wonderful Odessa artists united by the love for Tango. This is the young, promising group, performing since 2008.

The idea of the collaboration was born after performing of some concerts included Piazzolla`s pieces. All members of KVINTANGO – soloists and chamber music players are wellknown in Ukraine and abroad. They cover all styles of tango music from the classic Salon and Milonguero repertoire through to the Nuevo Tango associated with Astor Piazzolla.

Artists of the Ensemble:
Honoured Artist of Ukraine Vladimir Murza (bayan ), Prizewinner of international competitions Tatjana Kravchenko (piano), Prizewinner of international competitions Sergej Majboroda (violin), Sergej Repchinskij (guitar), soloist of the Odessa chamber orchestra Andrej Selin (double-bass).
The main idea of KVINTANGO ENSEMBLE - to favour the development of Tango music in Odessa and in Ukraine as a whole.

Performs with great success in the best concert halls and show rooms of Ukraine and Europe since 2008.
A vast repertoire, starting from classical to folk, jazz music, tango catches the attention of our audience. “Rio Rita Orchestra” has busy schedule, including concerts in many cities of Ukraine such as Odessa, Nikolayev, Kherson, Kiev and so.
Creator, arranger, composer and pianist – Oleksandr Kovalov – perform on many jazz and classical festivals and competitions, concert halls in Europe and USA as a concert pianist and entertainer.
Vitaliy Godlevsky – violin – teaches in Odessa Conservatory and performs with Odessa National Philharmonic Orchestra.
Nicolay Voloschin– accordion – wins competition for players on folk instruments, teach in music college of Odessa.
Michael Nichankin – Double Bass – performs with Odessa National Opera house orchestra.
